Rock Hill Housing Authority announces Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency Program
The ROSS Program was awarded to the Rock Hill Housing Authority in 2020. This program is open to residents of the Rock Hill and Great Falls Public Housing communities that are age 16 and older.
The purpose of this program is to connect participants with our community partners and resources that offer supportive services and empowerment activities. The ROSS program is intended to enable participants to:
- Make progress toward economic independence and housing self-sufficiency
- Reduce and/or eliminate the need for government assistance
- Increase earned income
We will connect our families with the following services that will help move them toward self-sufficiency:
- Financial Literacy
- Employment
- Education
- Health and Wellness
The ROSS Program was formally introduced to our residents through Community Kickoff events at the Boyd Hill, Workman, and Keiger, and Great Falls communities. At these events, residents were able to learn of the ROSS Program, register to vote, obtain information about completing the 2020 Census, and receive health and wellness information and bookbags filled with school supplies for students.
Residents who attended the events and completed an assessment were entered into a drawing to receive a free laptop. Our community volunteers included Affinity Health Care, NAACP, Blitz Barbiez and Bloom Realty who donated the 20 HP Laptops.
Our upcoming/future events include a Job Skills Workshop in September, a Financial Workshop in October, and Youth Outreach Programs that will be scheduled in late October. Moving forward we will continue to host monthly and bi-monthly events, programs, and community outreach.
