Shelby Douglas Joins Rock Hill Housing Staff

ROCK HILL, SC --- Shelby Douglas recently joined the staff of Rock Hill Housing serving as the Jobs Plus Career Coach. 

In this role, Douglas will provide career counseling and coordinate employment services to program participants.

Originally from Henderson, NC, Douglas relocated to the Rock Hill area in May 2018.  Douglas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Winston-Salem State University.

With over fifteen years of experience, Douglas brings her career services expertise to the agency. Prior to joining Rock Hill Housing Authority, Douglas served as a Success Coach for Charlotte Area Fund. In this role, Douglas provided vocational and training services to individuals.

During her free time, Douglas enjoys reading, traveling, and skating.

Shelby Douglas is a valuable addition to the Rock Hill Housing staff. She brings applicable knowledge in the area of human services to the position and will be an asset to the agency. Since 1965, Rock Hill Housing has provided housing assistance for families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in the cities of Rock Hill and Great Falls. Rock Hill Housing has 369 public housing units and manages 140 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV), previously Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, for area landlords.

The mission of Rock Hill Housing is to provide safe, clean, affordable housing and effective social services to low- and moderate-income families and individuals. The Rock Hill Housing team of dedicated employees and Commissioners in partnership with their residents, utilize accepted business principles and all available resources to improve the quality of life for all participants. They encourage employment, self-sufficiency, and, where possible, assist in the transition to other housing alternatives.
